Commissioning of Panama’s largest infrastructure project since the canal was built

The second Panama bridge was opened for traffic after just under two years’ construction. It is part of the so-called “Pan-American Highway,” which extends from Alaska to the “Land of Fire” in Argentina. For the time being, no street lights are planned for the bridge; however, the cables of the harp and the towers are illuminated by spotlights at night so that the construction can be seen high above the canal in the night-time sky without hindering shipping traffic. As a result of ingenious work preparation, the use of prefabricated elements and optimization of all workflows, it was possible to complete bridge segments in a record time of just 4 days.
