Ascheberg, July 11, 2017 – Data Design System (DDS) has released a new update of its BIM software DDS-CAD Viewer. The latest version of the tool is provided as a free download on the DDS website.
According to DDS, the DDS-CAD Viewer is mainly used by people in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry who are involved in BIM or conventional CAD design processes. It serves as a tool for dealing with building data, in particular files that are available in the Open BIM exchange format IFC. In addition, the DDS-CAD Viewer supports other formats, such as BCF, gbXML, DWG and DXF making the DDS-CAD Viewer compatible with most commonly used file formats in the AEC industry.
As an addition to the features of viewing, analysing, converting and editing BIM models, the latest update provides the full functionality of the interdisciplinary clash detection feature that was initially developed for the DDS flagship product DDS-CAD MEP. The feature works in an interdisciplinary way and automatically identifies clashing elements, regardless whether they are architectural building parts, MEP equipment, or structural elements. It provides a basis for a comprehensive project coordination and better design quality. Thanks to the integrated BCF (BIM Collaboration Format) support, design issues or clashes can be instantly communicated and managed.
Another new key feature is the ability to visually analyse model information using visualisation filters. The proxy element filter allows users to instantly detect unclassified objects in IFC files. In addition, with the file filter they can represent different versions of the same models each in a selected colour, enabling easy visual identification of model changes and inconsistencies.
