Many employees are voicing an interest in working remote for at least part of their time, so companies are assessing how to best prepare for these changing workplace needs. And this is a necessity, as studies show: C-Levels expect the typical employee to be back in the office almost full time. But nearly three-quarters of all questioned employees would like to work remotely for two or more days per week. There seems to be a discrepancy in expectations. How can employers make sure their teams enjoy coming back to the office? Where\u2019s the perfect balance and how can both sides benefit?<\/p><p>Working from home, or from another place than the office space, is no longer a \u201cluxury good\u201d but something companies and organizations need to offer nowadays. A home office comes with many advantages: employees save time and money because of not having to commute to the office, they can work from wherever suits best and seem to have a higher productivity overall. It also increases workplace security \u2013 especially in times of a pandemic. Those arguments also attract new employees. And the reverse is also true \u2013 companies can reach out to a broader talent pool if not limited to a certain location. Quite an advantage, especially in times where there is a war for talent. <\/p><p>One of the conclusions that many companies have drawn from the pandemic is that focused work can, for many employees, be done just as well \u2013 if not better \u2013 from home as in the office. Many types of collaboration and socialization, on the other hand, are better suited to face-to-face interactions, particularly when they involve new employees. As a result, many companies expect to dramatically increase the availability of conference rooms, huddle areas, and other collaboration or flexible spaces to accommodate new ways of working.<\/p><p>So, this seems like the perfect timing to put the current office setup on the test \u2013 is it still suitable? Does it fit the existing as well as the new needs for collaboration, focused work, and team building? Yet people will want to go to the office for certain days. Studies show certain fatigue and stress symptoms caused by an overload of online meetings and the feeling of a disorganized way of working from home \u2013 undermining the home-office-productivity effect. Another disadvantage of working permanently from home is the missing social interaction at work with colleagues. A coffee, a chat, or a lunch together \u2013 things that were quite normal before COVID-19 \u2013 are now rare situations of social exchange. The result is that people might feel isolated and lonely. These symptoms occur increasingly with and are particularly relevant for new colleagues. Not being able to meet in person and to only get in touch virtually makes it significantly more difficult to network. Another negative consequence of working fully remotely is \u2013 especially in bigger cities \u2013 a lack of a real workspace in the employee\u2019s housing. Often, rents are high, so it is difficult to find an apartment or house that offers a designated working area. <\/p><p>The much-discussed hybrid workplaces combine the best of both worlds. The term describes an office concept that enables employees in the office as well as remotely. Beyond the obvious challenge of determining how much space is needed, another question is what kind of space employees will require when they come to the office so that they can make the most of their in-office experience. <\/p><p>This is where software tools come into play. They can help to predict and handle those uncertainties and monitor precisely which space is being used and how. As a consequence, space can be optimized to adjust to the new way of hybrid working. Firstly, empty, wasted space can be reduced and areas of collaboration increased. Secondly, the need to account for and engage employees who are at the office increases the importance of reservations as a tool for connecting people. Reservation data can be used as the basis of a people finder feature in workplace apps that makes it easy to identify who is in the office and where they are sitting \u2013 all without tracking employee movements. Finally, there are likely to remain some employee sensitivities around safety at the office for some time, even after the pandemic. Measuring and sharing information about crowdedness and air quality in the office using live data can be a valuable complement to reservations systems for example, helping employees choose spaces in areas that are occupied to a level they are comfortable with. <\/p><p>Flexible work concepts are not new, but many organizations are embracing them for the first time and need to put in place robust reservations systems and, ideally, even sensors to make them work well. A well-functioning flexible concept can dramatically improve workplace perception and performance, but the pandemic also has proven that many offices suffer from poor implementation.<\/p><p>This leads to a better way of managing office space. And to a significant reduction of energy consumption: With the help of data \u2013 and the right software tools, facility and space managers can cut down the use of electricity, heating, or air conditioning \u2013 simply because they know, which office areas are used, and which ones are left empty. This also decreases the carbon footprint of companies and the office space and helps fighting climate change. <\/p><p>The pandemic has proven that flexible office solutions such as hybrid working are a viable alternative to the old way of working five days a week from the office. In a post-pandemic world, these concepts can be thought through \u2013 not only to match with the employees\u2019 needs for a more flexible working environment, but also to face the challenge of unused office space, high rents, and ongoing operational expenses. With the right software tools, sensor data, storage, and interpretation, managing a hybrid workplace is no longer a headache for executives and facility managers, but a new innovative step into the future \u2013 and into the new normal way of working, that fits both the employer\u2019s and the employees\u2019 needs. Across the two days, 40 expert-led presentations were delivered for thousands of professionals who registered for the event, with excellent feedback being received from attendees.<\/p><p>ALLPLAN\u2019s CEO, Dr. Detlef Schneider, opened the event with a keynote session about how the industry can benefit from the latest digital tools and discussed how these can help overcome current AEC industry challenges across the entire design to build process. He also emphasized the importance of data, and how critical it is to effective decision-making during the project. As the first ever global summit, this even was a major milestone for ALLPLAN. <em>\u201cI\u2019m really excited that we have the opportunity to share our vision \u2013 but, even more so to see our customers\u2019 visions and projects \u2013 for building the future. At ALLPLAN, we are dedicated to helping our customers to continuously improve their business \u2013 and this event provided a platform to share how exactly ALLPLANs technologies help,\u201d<\/em> explained Detlef Schneider<\/p><p><strong>A Focus on Digital Tools and real-life examples<\/strong><\/p><p>On the first day, experts spoke about building lifecycle intelligence, the sharing of building information and Artificial Intelligence. In addition, renowned offices presented their exciting projects and perspectives. The first presentation was given by Benjamin Blocher, Managing Director of blocher partners, with an insight into the responsible design of the built environment of our cities. Manuel Sigrist from Emch+Berger WSB AG, reported on his experiences with Allplan in the realization of the Zugersee Ost railroad infrastructure project - until recently the largest construction site in Switzerland. The customer presentations were rounded off by Wolfgang Gigelleitner from OBERNDORFER Betonfertigteile, Austria's leading precast manufacturer, who spoke about the use of digital tools as a success factor in the precast industry.<\/p><p>On the second day, the topics were more tailored to specific techniques and tools in the four main areas of architecture, civil engineering, precast construction and steel construction. For example, the latest updates for Allplan 2022 were presented and how the cloud can support better collaboration. Furthermore, the integration of bridge design into the BIM process, the use of the trend towards prefabrication, the efficient design of steel connections or reinforced concrete as well as the customization and automation of workflows with Visual Scripting and PythonParts were addressed. In addition to presentations by ALLPLAN, experts from the Nemetschek Group as well as from sister companies such as SCIA and partners such as Scalypso, ESS and buildingSMART were also present.<\/p><p><strong>An Opportunity to Learn and Connect<\/strong><\/p><p>Finally, the event provided delegates with an opportunity to question the presenters through an online Q&amp;A session. There was also an online networking area provided where contacts could be made with other like-minded professionals and discussions about the sessions could take place. Overall, the event was a great success, with attendees commenting on the wealth of knowledge shared and usefulness of the sessions and networking opportunities. Main driver was the subscription\/software-as-a-service (SaaS) revenue which increased by 48% to a new record high, which in turn also continued to drive the positive development of the Group's recurring revenues.<\/p><p>\"Our customers rely on the solutions of the Nemetschek Group for their digital transformation. Innovations and a strong customer focus are the key drivers for our sales success. This also includes our subscription and SaaS offerings,\" says Dr. Axel Kaufmann, Spokesman of the Executive Board and CFOO. \" With the very good operational development in Q3, we have laid the foundation to achieve the upper end of our previously raised target ranges for both our revenue growth and EBITDA margin for the financial year 2021.\"<\/p><p><strong>Key Group Figures for Q3 \/ 9-month 2021<\/strong><\/p><ul>\n<li>A growth driver was once again the revenue contribution from our <strong>subscription\/SaaS models<\/strong>, which increased by 48.0% in Q3 (currency-adjusted: 48.1%) to EUR 34.5 million. On a 9-month basis, revenues increased by 46.6% (currency-adjusted: 50.2%) to EUR 93.0 million. As a result, the revenue share of subscription\/SaaS models as a percentage of total revenues increased from 14.5% to 18.8% within one year.<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Recurring revenues<\/strong>, which include service contracts as well as subscription\/SaaS models, increased by 17.8% (currency-adjusted: 17.8%) to EUR 106.5 million in Q3. The high growth momentum as well as efficiency improvements led to an increase in the EBITDA margin to 32.1% (Q3 2020: 31.4%). On a 9-month-basis, the EBITDA margin expanded by 2.9 percentage points to 32.5% (previous year: 29.6%).<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Net income for the quarter<\/strong> increased significantly by 35.7% to EUR 34.2 million (previous year: EUR 25.2 million). Nemetschek Group: Strong business development in Q3 2021 with high growth momentum in subscription/SaaS models

The Nemetschek Group continued its strong business development and increased its revenues and earnings again in Q3 2021. Main driver was the subscription/software-as-a-service (SaaS) revenue which increased by 48% to a new record high, which in turn also continued to drive the positive development of the Group's recurring revenues.
