Ecological Timber House with Minergie Certificate
The residential and commercial building "Multi-family house Holzhausen" in Steinhausen, Switzerland, impressively demonstrates the variety of design options possible in a multi-story apartment building. The energy-efficient timber building saves around 7,700 liters of heating oil per year compared with a conventionally designed building. With the use of geothermics across 72 energy basks, a high-density building shell, comfort ventilation with heat recovery and triple-glazed windows, the building meets all the requirements of the Minergie standard. The ecologically exemplary timber house was completed in just 10 months under the overall management of Renggli AG, based on plans by architecture office Scheitlin_Syfrig + Partner Architekten AG.
